DESCRIPTION:Pflugerville Arts Council presents Cultures of the World\, a diverse art exhibit from six local artists.  This free exhibit bridges the recognition of Black History Month and Women’s History Month.  Suitable for all ages\, this exhibit highlights upcoming\, vibrant\, modern art of various mediums in a relaxed setting.  Artists include Anca Thomas\, Ricky Terrell\, Trae Mitchell\, Raye’vn Harper\, Hanna Kim and Margit Steimle.

SUMMARY:Boogie & BBQ with the McCain Duo
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy this free\, family-friendly concert with Artina and Martin McCain (www.mcainduo.com\, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3-h0ZovaXs).  Known for their fusion of classical\, jazz and gospel programming\, the McCain Duo (Artina and Martin) present concerts with a surprising depth of emotional contrasts. Audiences describe their performances as “breathtaking\, awe-inspiring\, and invigorating.” Their marriage and musical collaboration create an intimate range of tone colors and imaginative storytelling.  Presented by the Pflugerville Arts Council\, and we gratefully accept donations at the door and sponsorships so that we may continue to offer high-quality concerts in the Pflugerville area.  In the past several years\, the Pflugerville Arts Council has produced over 26 classical concerts in the beautiful sanctuary at Pflugerville First United Methodist Church\, 500 E. Pecan Street.

SUMMARY:The Swiftlet:  An Immigrant
DESCRIPTION:Free screening of “The Swiftlet:  An Immigrant”\, an experimental dramatic play created by the Nepali actor/director\, Subash B. Thapa\, based on the poem “The Swiftlet”\, written by renowned Nepali poet Keshav Raj Gnawali.   The poem describes a bird’s migration from his homeland and acceptance into a new land.  Mr. Thapa created a metaphorical interpretation that represents migrants\, not only on the Southern border of the US\, but globally as well\, with the goal of illuminating the humanistic view without the toxic political rhetoric.  Thus\, “The Swiftlet: An Immigrant” was born\, which is enhanced with music and dance in the style of Nepali folk fusion.

DESCRIPTION:The Pflugerville Arts Council is pleased to present Classical Artists Concert Series:  Sunday Symphony on July 17\, 2022 from 4-6pm.  The concert will be performed at the First United Methodist Church\, 500 E. Pecan Street\, Pflugerville\, Texas.  Parking and entrance to the concert are free.  The concert will feature Matthew Gustafson on Cello and Katie Lalmond Gustafson on piano.  Although admission is free\, donations are appreciated so that we may continue bringing high-quality\, professional concerts to the Pflugerville area.
